The Lehigh Valley is under a code red air quality alert in effect until midnight due to Canadian wildfires. Here are the latest updates on the smoke.

BETHLEHEM, PA. — The Lehigh Valley was enveloped in a thick blanket of fog and smoke on Wednesday, leading the nation for the worst air quality in the country.

This information comes from AirNow, a partnership of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Park Service, NASA, Centers for Disease Control, and tribal, state and local air quality agencies.

City Council meetings, pools, spray parks and outdoor activities ranging from tee times to recreational sports were canceled throughout the Lehigh Valley.
