ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Gov. Josh Shapiro plans to visit two locations in Lehigh County on Thursday, with an eye on the youth of Lehigh County at both of his stops.
Student mental health is the focus of Shapiro's first stop, at Parkland High School.
At his 1:30 p.m. meeting with students at Parkland High School in South Whitehall Township, the governor will hear about their experiences with mental health.
He also will talk about how he plans to fund mental health resources for schools and counties. The plan includes an investment of $500 million over the next five years and up to $60 million each year to restore county mental health funding.
At 3 p.m., Shapiro plans to be a part of the opening of Valania Park, between 6th and Union streets in Allentown.
After the ceremony, the community plans a block party with free ice cream.
