SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 24-year-old Northampton man died early Wednesday, about 90 minutes after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle, the Lehigh County Coroner’s office said.
The man, identified only as John Doe, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday at South Cedar Crest Boulevard and Fish Hatchery Road, according to a release.
He was rushed to the nearby emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, but was pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. from multiple blunt force injuries.
In addition to the coroner’s office, the Salisbury Township Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the Lehigh County Crash Team are investigating.
The man has been positively identified and next of kin notified, but the family will be given time to grieve the loss privately, the coroner’s office said.
It’s the latest in a string of fatal motorcycle crashes on Lehigh Valley roadways this year, prompting the coroner and other officials to speak out.
Two local mothers who lost sons in 2023 also recently spoke with LehighValleyNews.com regarding those tragedies in an effort to promote understanding of motorcycles on the roads and for drivers to be more vigilant.
