ALLENTOWN, Pa. - If the beautiful fall scenery and cooler weather aren’t enough to get you outside, maybe throwing in a good cause will work for you.

Get Outside for Good is a monthly hike aimed at raising awareness — and money — about and for Lehigh Valley nonprofit organizations.

The hike, held the first Sunday of each month at the South Mountain Preserve in Allentown, is bringing local women together.

Women's empowerment coach and therapist Shonda Moralis is behind the initiative.

“I wanted to do networking and kind of a really informal, fun, low-pressure way. So this is a way where I can give back to the community, get outside, introduce women to some of these beautiful trails we have, they can meet other like-minded women, and we can raise some awareness and funds for some great organizations,” Moralis said.

Each month, women who come to hike are also asked to make a donation to a community organization. October’s chosen organization is Girls on the Run Lehigh Valley which teaches girls in 3rd through 8th grades life skills through physical activity.

Next month’s donations will benefit the Kindness Project, which provides support for foster families.

You can sign up for the hike and pay the suggested $10 donation on Moralis’s website.
