"We have an explosion of mental health concerns, people are identifying it now," author Faust Ruggiero of Bangor said.

"But then when we go out and we say, 'Fine, let's get some treatment,' the alternatives aren't there like we need them."

Early in June, Ruggiero will release "The Fix Your Anxiety Handbook," the second book in his "Fix Yourself Empowerment" series.

Ruggiero, a therapist of more than 30 years, said he saw a need for the book after the pandemic.

"We saw a huge spike in anxiety worldwide, not just in the nation. So the obvious choice was let's get the next book started on anxiety, and then we're actually going to move to depression after this one, because those are the two big things right now that we're dealing with."

He said he wrote the book to mimic a therapy session so readers can go back and reference different chapters, need be.

"I write them short, very short chapters, six-seven pages and then I give all the action steps,” he said.

This latest installment is part of what will be a 10 book series. "The Fix Your Anxiety Handbook" will be out in the beginning of June. His next book on depression is expected by the end of the year.
