BETHLEHEM, Pa. — An interactive health care workshop will come to the Lehigh Valley this weekend.
Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network’s one-day event is called “Leading Disruption: A Health-Care Innovation Summit.”

People in the health care field will come together this Saturday at Wind Creek Casino conference space in Bethlehem for a day of learning.
It will be the first innovation summit organized by Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network. The next event already is scheduled for next year.
“This one-day conference will unite a diverse community of health care enthusiasts and inspire innovators' mindsets through thought-provoking presentations, interactive workshops and networking opportunities,” said Emily Lyter, whose team put the event together.
Steller speakers, diverse topics
Lyter is administrative director for Good Shepherd Learns, Creates, and Research, a sector of the network geared toward educating employees, working with area educational institutions and creating innovative opportunities especially in technology.
“There are stellar speakers," Lyter said. "We are flying in people from across the nation and we have some very impressive local talent and speakers also joining the stage.
“Our topics are really diverse. They span from creative problem solving, design thinking, organizational learning, all the way to health tech trends like artificial intelligence, digital therapeutics, brain computer interface and neural bypass, so there's a little bit of something for everybody.”

The event is free to all of Good Shepherd's employees throughout the system, including its Good Shepherd Penn partners, the joint venture with Penn Medicine.
People outside of the network can buy tickets through Friday. Some of those in attendance also will be eligible to earn continuing education credits.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for them to learn to grow, and really arm them with that innovator's mindset, as we as an organization move forward in tackling some of healthcare's toughest challenges that's really important to us,” Lyter said.
