HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Health received 95,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week, and Gov. Tom Wolf says those one-shot doses will begin going to those teaching and working in pre-K and elementary grades.
Teachers who work with students with disabilities and English language learners also are included.
Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Padfield says vaccination clinics will be held March 10-13 at local intermediate units.
“The clinics will operate daily and on weekends to provide an opportunity for eligible individuals to get vaccinated while accommodating both work and personal schedules. Each school will be provided with a specific schedule of available appointments,” Padfield says.
Appointments will be scheduled online, and the Pennsylvania National Guard will help administer the Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
“The vast majority of the clinics will be able to provide up to 500 vaccinations a day with some clinics and IU’s with larger numbers of educators and support staff being able to support up to 1,000 doses a day,” Padfield says.
The state is also working with retail pharmacy partners to vaccinate child care workers and will contact state-licensed centers.
