Any health care worker who wants one should have a vaccine.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsyvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine is hopeful nursing home residents and staff will soon be vaccinated. She is asking hospitals to make sure first responders, like EMS workers, also get the shot

“Any healthcare worker who wants to be vaccinated, will be vaccinated, EMS providers are called to care for people experiencing a healthcare crisis, and who are in an immediate need of care. While EMS workers do take precautions, they are walking into unknown situations and are really our frontline first responders,” said Levine.

Levine said next week, CVS and Walgreens will start onsite vaccinations for residents and staff at nursing home facilities. But it will still be months before there is enough vaccine available for the general public.

During the coming holidays, Levine says residents need to continue to practice social distancing in order to halt the spread of the coronavirus.
