SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. -- First responders in South Whitehall Township will get new equipment thanks to a $300,000 state grant for Cetronia Ambulance Corps.
The funds were used to buy 15 new Zoll X Series Advanced Monitor/Defibrillator units. The new equipment will replace older units that are at the end of their run, officials said.
Cetronia Chief Executive Officer Robert Mateff said such equipment helps the corps take advantage of the latest computer algorithms to diagnose arrhythmias and other conditions that may be problematic for the patient.

“It allows us to communicate directly to the hospital so they can see what's going on pre-hospital, as well as into the charting system that we use, which is shared with the hospital and becomes part of the patient's record,” Mateff said.
Mateff said investing in technology allows his team to provide the highest level of care in the community.
State Sen. Pat Browne helped secure the grant.
