BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Parents now can make an appointment for their children to get the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
Lehigh Valley Health Network will begin administering the Pfizer bivalent booster on Monday.

- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration recommend getting shot at least two months after initial COVID-19 vaccine series or booster; or three months after being infected
- A parent must make an appointment for children to get the vaccine at LVHN
The latest dose was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in early October for ages 5 and older. It previously was approved for ages 12 and older.
Parents should wait at least two months from completion of their child’s initial series or last booster shot, according to the CDC and FDA.
Those agencies also said children who recently had the virus should wait at least three months to get another vaccine.

“Right now, we have about 100 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across LVHN," said Dr. Alex Benjamin, LVHN chief Infection Control and Prevention officer. "This virus and pandemic are still with us, and we need to continue to keep up our guard.
“That means being vaccinated and then boosted when it’s time. It remains the single biggest factor in helping prevent COVID-19 deaths."
Benjamin said the United States still averages more than 300 COVID-19-related deaths each day.
LVHN requires an appointment for those looking to get their children vaccinated.
