HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania has new mandatory protections for workers employed at essential businesses with in-person operations. As WLVR’s Tyler Pratt reports, the sweeping order also instructs some businesses to have employees and customers wear masks.
Governor Tom Wolf said Tuesday he wanted to ensure the safety of workers across the state who make sure Pennsylvanians have, quote, “the things they need to survive.”
“This includes grocery store workers, delivery drivers, warehouse employees, truckers, manufacturing workers and farmers,” said Wolf.
Wolf said this also includes people who perform critical and emergency services such as power plant workers, plumbers and veterinarians.
The order, signed by the state health secretary, directs businesses to make specific efforts to implement social distancing tactics
Certain businesses may need to require all customers wear masks as well. Facilities may also need to implement temperature screenings, and send home any worker with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher.
Wolf has directed state police and state agencies to enforce the order to the full extent of the law.
