BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Though there are no cases in the Lehigh Valley yet, local school officials are preparing for the possibility of aCOVID-19 breakout.
Bethlehem Area School District Superintendent Joseph Roy sent a letter to families yesterday addressing the possibility of school closures if cases appear in the Valley.
Roy said the district is developing contingency learning plans with existing instructional technology tools. Officials are also reviewing upcoming student trips based on the destination, duration of the trip and planned activities.
In the meantime, schools are also stepping up cleaning and disinfecting so-called hi-touch areas like desks and doorknobs -- and refilling hand soap and paper towels more frequently due to increased use.
This district has also intensified its regimen for cleaning school buses.
