BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Health officials across the greater Lehigh Valley are keeping an eye on recent international travelers to countries with coronavirus outbreaks.

In a survey of health departments across the region, WLVR and PBS39learned that upwards of 16 people in three counties are currently under observation.

Kristen Wenrich is director of the Bethlehem’s Health Bureau.

"Currently, we are monitoring one individual - so it's not a case- So we don’t have anyone here in the Lehigh Valley," says Wenrich

Weinrich says they are monitoring all recent travelers to China. But, she notes that with new cases of COVID-19 in New York, those commuting to nearby major cities may be at increased risk for infection.

An official from Bucks County says they’re monitoring 10 to 12 people. And Hunterdon, New Jersey is evaluating an additional five individuals.

Officials with Easton’s health bureau say they have no one under observation.

Allentown’s Health Bureau hasn’t released any information about coronavirus. City officials met Friday to discuss plans for the Allentown’s workforce in the event of an outbreak.
