Watching the skies with Brad Klein

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Brad Klein reviews upcoming astronomical highlights with Bethlehem’s "Backyard Astronomy Guy," Marty McGuire.

This week, they look forward to this year’s Lehigh Valley Space Fest at Lafayette College in Easton, set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12.

McGuire co-founded the event with Todd Sullivan. Both are part of the NASA ambassador program that encourages public outreach on space exploration. McGuire said that over 3,000 people attended the event last year, also at Lafayette College.

This year the event is also partnering with Easton’s Nurture Nature Center. It will have staff present at Lafayette’s Rockwell Science Center and Anderson Courtyard.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and is free to the public.

Weather-permitting, McGuire said, “we'll have solar telescopes where you can safely look at the sun… and you'll be able to see our closest star in all its beauty.”

More information is available on the event’s web site at www.lvspacefest.org.
