HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Lehigh County 4-H member took first place at last month’s 65th annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show.
Parker Haydt, of Walnutport, placed first in the pleasure horse driving class with his horse, Skipa Star Goer, according to a news release from Penn State Extension.
The show, held Oct. 23-26 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, drew riders who qualified through county and district shows, participating in 82 performance classes, representing over 1,400 entries.
Team Horse Power
During the show, Haydt as well as more than a dozen others also were recognized for their service on Team Horse Power.
A statewide youth leadership initiative, Team Horse Power members provided hands-on educational clinics during the event.
Returning and new members were acknowledged for their service to the 4-H program, including Haydt, for his second year serving on this team.
Events at the show included showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, pleasure, over-fences classes, driving, reining, western riding, trail and timed events, officials said.
The Equestrian with Disabilities division also offered opportunities for riders with special needs.
