ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The National Weather Service at Mount Holly has issued a frost advisory for several regions, including the Lehigh Valley.
The advisory will be in effect from 2-9 a.m. Tuesday.
It comes as temperatures are expected to drop as low as 35 degrees, potentially leading to frost formation.
Sensitive outdoor vegetation could be at risk of damage if left uncovered. The weather service suggests that residents “remember to cover up or bring in [their] sensitive plants tonight.”
Currently, calm winds and clear skies prevail as a surface high-pressure system continues eastward through the day and into the evening, according to the forecast, made about 4:10 p.m.
As night falls, the temperature decline will be influenced by factors such as moisture levels closer to the ground and the arrival of cloud cover because of a passing shortwave — or kink in the weather system.

Clouds making their way to the northern regions by late evening are anticipated, which will help regulate radiational cooling in such as the Poconos, Lehigh Valley and northern New Jersey.
That should prevent a widespread freeze, but temperatures still be conducive to frost in most areas, according to the weather service.

Despite a cold Tuesday morning in the upper 30s and low 40s at sunrise, there should be a swift recovery on the way in the afternoon, according to the weather service.
The day is expected to remain dry and sunny, with highs in the upper 60s.
