BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Every Tuesday, Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, sits down with LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortell for Lehigh Valley Political Pulse on WLVR.

They discuss the latest trends emerging from science-based polls to break down local, state and national campaigns and issues.

In this episode, Chris and Tom talk about the general election and the sprint to November now that the presidential race is officially between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

A week after the Democratic National Convention, the Lehigh Valley is seeing an abundant number of ads, perhaps at a historic level.

“It is hard to turn on a television, put on your radio, go almost anywhere online and not see a proliferation of ads,” Borick said.

That includes a “hyperfocus” by the Harris campaign on the middle class and the portrayal in ads of her middle-class upbringing.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign is drilling down on the border, inflation and the economy.

Borick and Shortell also discuss what ads look like for our congressional and Senate races, where resources aren’t as abundant for candidates.

Political Pulse airs throughout the day Tuesdays on 91.3 WLVR. You can listen to an extended version of the conversation here, by clicking the listen button above.
