Senator and vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris was in the Lehigh Valley on Monday as part of Biden's final campaign blitz across the Keystone State. Harris stopped in Bethlehem for the Latino "Get Out the Vote Drive-in Rally" of about 70 cars.

Harris acknowledged the campaign’s attention to the commonwealth, saying, “The path to the White House leads through Pennsylvania.”

“We emailed and we texted and we called 'til folks got sick of us,” Harris said. "But we knew they’d get over it, and we will tell them, Bethlehem, that we elected Joe Biden, the next president of the United States.”

In addition to plugging Biden’s healthcare and economic plans, Harris made it a point to not mention President Trump by name, although she did fault the administration’s response to the coronavirus as Pennsylvania experiences some of its highest daily case counts of the pandemic.

“It didn’t have to be this way. It didn’t have to be this bad if we had real leadership in the White House,” Harris said.

Northampton is one of three Pennsylvania counties that swung from Obama to Trump in 2016.
