UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - President Donald Trump will visit a medical supply distributor in Allentown Thursday. He’s expected to take a tour and tout his efforts to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, WLVR’s Tyler Pratt reports.
A White House official confirmed Thursday night President Trump will visit an Owens and Minor Incorporated warehouse in Upper Macungie Township. It’s a PPE supply company based out of Virginia.
The official says the 137-year-old American medical equipment distributor has sent millions of N95 masks, surgical gowns and gloves to hospitals and surgery centers across the country to respond to COVID-19.
The President is expected to discuss his Administration’s efforts to bolster the Strategic National Stockpile, which is designed to supplement state and local supplies during public health emergencies.
He’s also expected to talk about U.S. capacity for coronavirus testing. Health experts have criticized limits on testing in the U.S., which has made it difficult to track the spread of the virus.
Over 80,000 people have died from COVID-19 in the U.S., more than any other country in the world.
