Four new mail-in ballot drop boxes could be coming to Lehigh County this Friday. The board of elections is meeting to vote on the protocols today. There’s already one dropbox in Allentown, and as WLVR’s Ben Stemrich reports, it’s seeing a lot of action.

Please be patient: We most likely won’t know the results of the Nov. 3 election in Pa. and across the country for several days. Find out more about how WLVR News will cover election night and after.

Lehigh County installed a 24-hour ballot box at the city government center on 7th street last Friday.

County Executive Phillips Armstrong says people are actively using it.

"We are getting such a great response for it. We are actually sending our certified county person from the voter registration office up to empty it twice a day. We're getting 200, 300 ballots already on average per day…”

And Armstrong says more locations are coming.

“Our drop boxes in the municipal buildings will be available this Friday. So starting Friday you can go to one of your district buildings and they'll be the same thing. This will be the only one that is 24 hours.”

The new ballot boxes in municipal buildings will only be available during business hours.

Those with mail-in ballots can send them via the post office, or drop them in a ballot box through 8 p.m. on election night.

The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is 5 p.m. on Oct. 27. Voters can apply online or in-person at a county election office.
