WILSON BOROUGH, Pa. — A Wilson area nonprofit has made its way to the final round of funding as part of Thrivent’s The Big Give Back — and needs a little help from residents to snag a $10,000 grant.
Wilson Area LINCS Coalition for Families and Youth announced Friday it had been selected as one of five finalists in Thrivent’s The Big Give Back for the Mid-Atlantic area, along with a request for “anyone with an email address” to vote in support of the organization.
Out of 156 applications submitted, Wilson Area LINCS Coalition for Families and Youth was the only group from the Lehigh Valley.
Thrivent is a nonprofit organization that provides financial advice on investments, insurance, banking, and generosity programs “to help people make the most of all they’ve been given.”
LINCS offers programming and services for area families including a weekly food pantry, a weekend meal program for students, a teaching garden, and a summer playground program for elementary-aged students.
The voting comes just as the state has crossed over into 100 days of a budget impasse, putting plenty of pressure on municipalities, schools, and nonprofits that rely on funding.
Some have been forced to pursue loans in order to keep going.
Voting will run from Oct. 12 through Oct. 18, and those interested in participating can join by visiting The Big Give Back website to cast their choice.
