BALTIMORE, Md. – Malik Hamm, a standout football player at Lafayette College who was the Patriot League’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, is going to the NFL.

Hamm, an undrafted free agent who signed with his hometown Baltimore Ravens earlier this year, has made the Ravens’ 53-man roster as a linebacker.

The team released its roster Tuesday night after the NFL’s 4 p.m. deadline for final cuts.

Hamm played five years at defensive line for Lafayette – he got an extra year because of the pandemic – and distinguished himself as one of the Easton school’s all-time greats. Even so, he went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft and signed a free-agent contract earlier this year to join the Ravens for training camp. He is a native of Baltimore.

Hamm is a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and was named the league’s Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2018. He’s a four-time All-Patriot League First Team selection.

He is Lafayette’s career sack leader with 32 and is fourth all-time in the Patriot League. He was the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 and 2019.

Considered a longshot to make the team at the start of summer, Hamm was impressive in the Ravens’ preseason. He recorded a sack in a game against the Eagles and stood out as a linebacker in preseason practices against the Washington Commanders.

Hamm played in 48 career games for Lafayette, with 46 starts. He finished his career with 233 total tackles, 50 tackles for loss, eight forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four blocked kicks.
