PALMER TWP., Pa. — Work is scheduled to begin Monday and last through the end of July at the Glendon Bridge.
The bridge along South 25th Street spans the Lehigh River and the D&L Trail.
It connects Palmer Township and Wilson with Glendon and Williams Township, and provides a shortcut from Palmer to South Side Easton and Interstate 78.
The bridge will remain open during the construction period but it will be restricted to one lane in each direction instead of two, PennDOT spokesman Ron Young said.
The bridge is being repaired under a $4.6 million bridge preservation contract covering several spans in the Lehigh Valley, PennDOT says.
Traffic will be restored to all four lanes around the end of July, he said.

The work involves concrete deck repairs, beam and substructure repairs, as well as joint repairs and sealing, painting and other miscellaneous construction, Young said.
Bridges along Route 22, Route 29, Route 309 and others are part of the contract that was awarded last December to J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, Young said.
Municipalities included in the work are Allentown, South Whitehall Township and Heidelberg, Lower Macungie and Whitehall townships in Lehigh County; and Palmer Township, Wilson and Williams Township in Northampton County.
