Businesses in the Downtown neighborhood are pairing off for "A Match Made in Easton," a special promotion where shoppers can get a discount or special item when they present a receipt from one shop at a partnering business.

EASTON, Pa. — Cuffing season is coming to a head in Easton next week as restaurants and charming small businesses pair up to create an enchanting evening for lovebirds.

It’s the return of “Match Made in Easton,” which runs from Friday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 16, where customers of participating businesses can take a receipt to a matched location to receive an exclusive deal or promotion.

The event is in its second year, highlighting Easton’s “unique spirit of collaboration among its downtown businesses, “many of whom are not just neighbors but friends,” according to a release from the Greater Easton Development Partnership.

“That sense of community sparked the inspiration for ‘Match Made in Easton,’ a Valentine’s receipt swap activity originally dreamed up by a local shop owner,” a statement from the group reads.

These collaborations reinforce the value of visiting a diverse downtown district with a wide variety of retail, entertainment, and dining options: Take your dinner receipt to the clothing store for a discount on a special gift; use your pre-dinner receipt at another spot to score a complimentary drink, dessert, or savings with their partner place.

According to a release from the GEDP and the Easton Main Street Initiative, this program presents a novel opportunity for Easton’s small business community to collaborate and “unleash their creativity and express love for their customers, creating a one-of-the-kind and unforgettable Easton experience.”

Participating business pairings will be recognized as official couples on the Easton Main Street Initiative’s social media accounts and on their website, celebrating their commitment to making the Valentine’s season “extraordinary for everyone.”

Those looking for a romantic date night ending with a good bottle of wine at home can pick up a bottle at Clever Girl Winery and take your receipt to get a small antipasto, a pizza, and zeppoles for $25. You can also take your Colonial receipt to Clever Girl for a 10% discount.

If you're planning to surprise your love with flowers and sweets, take your Pie + Tart receipt at Bloomie’s for a 15% discount on any purchase over $20, or bring that Bloomie’s receipt to Pie + Tart to get 15% off any purchase over $5.
