Easton City Controller Chris Heagele announces re-election bid

EASTON, Pa – Easton City Controller Chris Heagele is seeking to be re-elected to the position. Heagele has been serving the role since 2019.

Among other items, the city controller is responsible for managing Easton's payroll and other funds in the city's accounts and conducts performance audits for city departments, agencies and programs.

Before being elected, Heagele was the city finance director from 2008 to 2015.
During Heagele’s time as finance director, Heagele saw Standard & Poor's (S&P) Global’s credit rating for Easton rise from a ‘BBB+’ to an ‘A+.’

The city currently has an A credit rating.

In a news release announcing his candidacy, Heagele pledged to continue to bring fiscal responsibility to the city. He also promised to bring more transparency to the city controller's officer position by providing periodic reports to City Council and meetings with the Audit Committee.

No other candidates have officially announced a run for office yet.

Heagele lives with his wife and two children in Easton’s College Hill neighborhood.

He graduated from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, earning a Masters in Public Policy. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Economics degree in 1994 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Heagele is the School Business Administrator at Warren Township Schools in Warren, NJ and oversees a $43 million budget.
