EASTON, Pa. — It’s time to dust off the roller skates that have been put up on the shelf. Or to rent a pair at Bushkill Park roller rink.
Bushkill Park, purportedly one of the oldest roller skating rinks in the nation, will have a dubstep and laser light event.
The event, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, is for skaters ages 18 and older and will feature multiple disc jockeys, along with food and drink though not on the rink.
Normally, the rink operates from 7-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, but the hours will be extended for laser skaters.
Organizers clarified, however, that regular skate hours will be cut to 9 p.m. Anyone buying tickets to skate during regular hours will get a discount.
At 9 p.m. it will be laser time which will lat till 1 a.m.
Sue Klein, a volunteer at the roller rink, said attendance at the events has been hit-or-miss recently, with dozens coming to some events and only a few at others.
She said she’d really like to see people show up and have a fun time.
“You can watch lasers, you can dance and you can skate the night away,” Klein said.
Tickets to dubstep skate night are $10.
Upcoming Events
Bushkill Park also has other skating events. Earlier in November the rink held a House on Wheels party, at which attendees could skate to New Jersey sound house music.
There will be another house music skate event on Dec. 18, this time with ugly sweaters.
The rink also is open for birthday parties and events.
Bushkill Park is at 2100 Bushkill Park, Easton.
