EASTON, Pa. - School districts across the country will be on alert Friday in the wake of a threat posted on TikTok that’s been circulating this week.

And for at least one local school district there will be a heightened police presence Friday morning.

Easton Area School Districtofficials sent out an alert to parents Thursday night about the social media threat.

In the alert, they said the threat did not appear to be credible. The post appeared to be part of a national trend that did not originate in the school district, they said.

The post refers to a threat to school safety Friday “for every school in the USA, even elementary,” according to the alert.

However, officials say they are working with local law enforcement to increase security at schools Friday. They’re also asking students and parents to notify their school if they see any additional threats on social media or other suspicious activity.
