UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. — Reports of "a loud, ground-shaking thud" by residents of the Olde Towne community sent Upper Macungie Police in search of its cause Friday.
Reports from the neighborhood, near Grange Road and Ruppsville Road, said the vibration that resulted from the "boom" impacted some areas strongly enough to shake items off of the walls inside houses.
Upper Macungie Police said officers responded to the area and searched the neighborhood and surrounding vicinity but didn't find anything suspicious or unusual.
Police said there also were also no reports of destroyed structures or injuries as a result of the incident.
In addition to a ground search, an aerial search was conducted with the assistance of the Lehigh County Drone Team, however, no damage was found, police said.
The police department said representatives from UGI said there were no reported issues or problems in the area, and that the United States Geological Survey reported no notable seismic activity in the area.
