Upper Milford supervisors chair announces reelection bid

Joyce Moore is running for reelection to the Upper Milford Township Board of Supervisors

UPPER MILFORD TWP. —  Upper Milford Township Supervisors Chairwoman Joyce Moore announced Monday she will seek re-election.

  • Moore previously ran an unsuccessfully on the Democratic ticket for the District 5 Lehigh County Commissioner seat in 2021

Moore originally was elected in 2017 and is the only seat on the three-member board up for re-election.
Moore was elected supervisors chairwoman in 2020, then returned to the position in 2022 and was re-elected at the board's January reorganization meeting.

She also held the position of supervisors vice-chairwoman.

Moore in 2021 ran on the Democratic ticket for the District 5 seat on Lehigh County Board of Commissioners, losing to Republican Jeffrey Dutt, who currently holds the seat.

Moore, a financial consultant by trade, has run a financial advisory practice in the township for 32 years.

She said she has been an active member of various civic associations, such as Emmaus Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council, the Sierra Club, the Appalachian Mountain Club, as assistant Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 31, and formerly was chairwoman of the Upper Milford Township Open Space Committee.

In her announcement of candidacy, she says she plans to prioritize farmland and open space preservation, maintain fiscal restraint to keep taxes low, and focus on supporting fire companies to keep the community safe.

“I am excited to continue serving my neighbors,” Moore said in a release. “I am proud of what I have been a part of accomplishing for our township, but there is more to do.

"We must continue to preserve our way of life through open space preservation, fiscal responsibility and public safety.”

Upper Milford borders Macungie, Emmaus, Lower Macungie Township and Lower Milford Township and contains the villages of Old Zionsville, Powder Valley, Vera Cruz, among others.
