East Penn board president seeking second full term

Joshua Levinson, East Penn SD board president is running for reelection in 2023.

UPPER MILFORD TWP., Pa. — East Penn School Board President Joshua Levinson announced Monday he will seek re-election to the board.

Levinson originally was appointed to the board in September 2018 and in 2019 was elected to a full four-year term.

  • Levinson has a chemical engineering background and initially was appointed to the board in 2018. In 2019 he was elected to a full term
  • Levinson moved to the district in 2001 and had two children graduate from Emmaus High School

Levinson was elected board president partway through his previous term.
Levinson has lived in East Penn School District since 2001. He moved from upstate New York to Zionsville and has two children who are recent graduates of the district.

He has been an engineer in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical fields and holds degrees from MIT and Stanford, according to his website.
 
"I am a proud product of the public education system," Levinson said. "This foundation enabled me to pursue my educational and professional opportunities in engineering."

Levinson also has taught at Lafayette College.

He is among East Penn's four representatives on the Joint Operating Committee at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute and is a board member of the East Penn School District Education Foundation fundraising organization.

Levinson said he views the formulation of the budget, ensuring the availability of necessary resources and structures for the classroom to support student achievement and promoting a positive district climate as important focus areas while serving as a member of the board.

He is proud to have led the district’s effort to expand its senior citizens property tax rebate program for low-income residents, he said.
