BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After a threat Sunday regarding an "active shooter" at Lehigh University was found to be a hoax, university police are continuing their investigation.
State Police and the FBI are working with university police to find the source of a call that came through the Northampton County 911 Center regarding the shooter hoax, according to a written release from Amy White, Lehigh's interim media relations director.
- Lehigh University was notified of an active shooter on campus Sunday evening
- Found to be a hoax, the reports came through the Northampton County 911 Center and, reportedly, from outside the area
- State police and the FBI have joined Lehigh University police to identify whoever is responsible
The call came from out of the area, White said in the release.
Lehigh officials used the school's HawkWatch alert system to notify the campus community of the threat. Students and others on campus were advised to shelter in place while police investigated.
Lehigh is providing counseling resourced for any students experiencing distress.
