EASTON, Pa. — A 19-year-old Schnecksville man has been sentenced to 73 years to life in prison for the murder of a Catasauqua woman and her daughter in 2023.
John Derwin Bradley was sentenced for the murders of Rianna and Rosalyn Glass, Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta announced Thursday in a release.
Bradley was sentenced to an additional six to 20 years, to run concurrently, for the aggravated assault of a 14-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car he crashed as he fled authorities, the release said.
On Sept. 13, 2023, Upper Saucon police officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in which Bradley, then 17, was identified as the driver.
The vehicle involved in the crash was registered to Rosalyn Glass, mother of Bradley's ex-girlfriend, Rianna Glass.
Police tried to contact Rosalyn Glass at her home, but were unsuccessful.
The release said that a short while later, a family friend reported an unconscious female at the residence, and police found Rosalyn Glass deceased in the upstairs hallway.
Her daughter also was found deceased in her bedroom.
Details of murders, crash
An investigation found Bradley stabbed both victims in the home — Rosalyn Glass died from 33 stab wounds and Rianna Glass died from strangulation and three stab wounds to her neck, the release said.
The stab wounds were consistent with the Smith and Wesson knife found near Bradley at the scene of the crash. The knife appeared to contain blood, police said.
Police determined that Bradley brought the juvenile passenger to the Glass home after murdering the mother and daughter, then fled in Rosalyn Glass' vehicle and intentionally crashed it into a tree at 109 mph.
Both Bradley and the passenger were seriously injured and taken to nearby hospitals, authorities said.
The 14-year-old female underwent 16 surgeries and will require physical and cognitive care for the rest of her life, the release said.
Judge John M. Morganelli sentenced Bradley to 36.5 years to life for the murder of Rianna Glass and an additional 36.5 years to life for the murder of Rosalyn Glass.
Morganelli likened Bradley to a rabid animal who will be warehoused for a long time, the release says.
