HARRISBURG, Pa. -State officials are encouraging older residents to stay home and limit exposure to the coronavirus.
Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging Robert Torres says some refill rules for state’s prescription program have been suspended - so seniors can get what they need now.
"We know many older adults may be concerned about getting their medications. So I want to speak directly to older adults who are enrolled in our PACE pharmaceutical program. If you are running low on your medications, you do not have to wait until 75% of your medications used before you can get a refill," said Torres.
Torres says the program is working to ensure seniors remain in their homes. To that end, he says all PACE enrollees should be able to get free home delivery of their medications.
The Department of Aging has also released new guidelines for senior centers and health care facilities to protect older Pennsylvanians, who are considered especially at risk for contracting and developing serious cases of COVID-19.
