The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley received a $40,000 grant through Phillies Charities, Inc.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley has received a $40,000 grant from Phillies Charities Inc.

The Allentown-based organization was nominated for the Community Heroes Grant by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The PCFLV were to be recognized Wednesday night at a holiday reception sponsored by the Phillies at Citizens’ Bank Park.

Executive Director Michelle Zenie Rounds and fundraising manager Stacy Stauffer were to represent the cancer foundation.

PCFLV provides family centered programs and services throughout all stages of the pediatric cancer journey.

The group was the only Lehigh Valley organization to be recognized by Phillies Charities this year.

Phillies Charities Inc., the charitable arm of the Philadelphia Phillies, said in a release that 32 area charities that provide vital resources to those in need were chosen as community heroes this year.

The recipient organizations are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, as well as near the Phillies minor league affiliate in Clearwater, Florida.

'Important work in our community'

Collectively, Phillies Charities will award more than $1.2 million in grants, with each nonprofit organization getting a $40,000 grant, according to a release.

“In celebration of our Season of Giving, it is our honor to award over $1.2 million in grants to 35 charitable organizations who have done so much for our community,” Phillies Charities President Bonnie Clark said.

“These grants, which are possible because of the exceptional support of our fans, front office employees, sponsors and players, along with their wives and significant others, will help ensure that the important work these organizations do in our community will continue.”
