Bethlehem YWCA's annual Pop-Up Prom Shop begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Unless you have a fairy godmother who can whip up the appropriate ensemble for the prom, putting together your own look could be a pricey challenge this year.

However, the Bethlehem YWCA comes to the rescue as it hosts its 15th annual Pop-Up Prom Shop 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Venture X co-working space at 306 S. New St.

The Y touted a "stunning inventory of 1,000 new dresses, gently used dresses and women's pant suits," in a written release Thursday.

Each dress or pant suit sells for $20 and purses and jewelry are also available at no additional cost.

High school juniors and seniors can purchase up to two items and must show a high school ID. Shoppers can bring one adult to help them shop.

According to the YWCA, about 200 teens from more than 30 area high school are expected to save their families about $50,000 in prom-related expenses.

"This event has special importance for students from low-income families who otherwise skip their prom due to the expense," they said.
