ALLENTOWN, Pa. - David Fagerstrom, the Greater Valley YMCA president and chief executive officer, is set to retire after 36 years of service to the YMCA.

- Fagerstrom will transition to a consultant role to ensure the successful completion of several major projects
- During his tenure, Fagerstrom led the transformation of Greater Valley YMCA and oversaw the completion of $15 million worth of building renovations, as well as the establishment of strategic partnerships and social programs
Fagerstrom will transition to a consulting role starting September 2023, where he will ensure that major projects, such as the Saucon Creek YMCA Branch, come to fruition.
Fagerstrom has served in several leadership roles at YMCAs across the country and has been the CEO of the Greater Valley YMCA since August 2016.
During his tenure, Fagerstrom was tasked with creating a single organization from the once-independent YMCA branches located in Allentown, Bethlehem, Catasauqua, Easton, Nazareth, and Pen Argyl.
Under his leadership, the Greater Valley YMCA has transformed into an organization that provides social programs such as food insecurity, housing, and childcare.
The YMCA is currently working on a new facility in the Saucon Valley area.
Peter Dent, the chief volunteer officer and president of the Greater Valley YMCA Board of Directors, said the Y has a good process in place to find a new leader to serve with the same passion.
“Since Dave joined us in 2016, the Y has transformed into something our community can rely on now and for future generations," Dent said in a release.
