ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Lehigh County commissioners on Thursday unanimously approved a raise for many front-line employees at the county-owned Cedarbrook nursing home.

The one-year a new memorandum of understanding gives members of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1776 working at Cedarbrook a 3% raise next year.

Employees will not receive a step increase.

The union represents nursing attendants and aides, therapy assistants and aides, clerical technicians, laundry workers, maintenance mechanics, electricians, plumbers, janitors, groundskeepers and other critical support staff.

Licensed practical nurses, professional employees, supervisors and guards are not part of the bargaining unit.

As an extension of the union’s previous agreement with Lehigh County, it carries forward the same terms of employment as their last contract.

The county and union leaders will need to negotiate a new extension or agreement for 2027.
