Comcast is expanding its reach in the Lehigh Valley. The cable company recently connected its first thousand homes and businesses in Upper Saucon Twp.

UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. — Comcast is spreading across the Lehigh Valley.

The first thousand homes and businesses of the high-speed internet and cable network in Upper Saucon Township have been connected as part of an expansion that will include thousands of additional customers, Comcast said.

A release issued by Comcast states the company’s “reliable, high-speed network” eventually will include more than 7,000 homes and businesses across the township.

“Comcast’s decision to expand into the Upper Saucon community is a win for consumer choice.”
State Sen. Jarrett Coleman, R-16th District

The expansion provides “internet, mobile, entertainment and security services from Xfinity and Comcast Business” to residents and employers, “enhancing digital infrastructure, promoting economic growth and positioning residents and local businesses for success in an increasingly digital world,” the statement reads.

“Comcast’s decision to expand into the Upper Saucon community is a win for consumer choice,” state Sen. Jarrett Coleman, R-16th District, said.

“It’s critical that our residents and businesses have access to reliable, state-of-the-art broadband connectivity to fully enjoy the benefits of today’s digital world.

"I applaud Comcast for their commitment to bridging the digital divide by offering Internet Essentials and supporting community programming and digital literacy training.”

'More to come'

Officials stated the expansion is set to be completed by spring.

Residents in the area can check for service availability online, or by visiting the Xfinity Store at 235 N. West End Blvd., Quakertown.

The spread into Upper Saucon is just one part of Comcast’s investment in the Lehigh Valley.

It also completed an expansion in Coopersburg, and a recent contract with the city of Easton to offer high-speed internet and cable television to residents and businesses over the next few years.

Comcast officials have stated that entering the Lehigh Valley market will provide customers with additional choices in service and promote competition and potentially lower rates.

During an Easton meeting with Comcast, representatives from the company stated an average package deal with cable television, internet and phone service to cost about $110 per month, though introductory rates may be lower.

Comcast said it has connected “232,000 homes and businesses in Pennsylvania to Xfinity and Comcast Business services, with more to come in 2025.”

'Connect to what matters most'

The company currently touts “gigabit Internet speeds, 99.9 percent reliability and built-in security to help keep customers safe from cyber threats,” which it says already is available to more than 63 million homes and businesses across the country.

“We are committed to investing in and expanding our network to ensure that more residents and businesses in Pennsylvania have a choice in their Internet provider.”

Comcast also highlighted its Internet Essentials program, which offers eligible households low-cost, high-speed internet and affordable computers, in addition to millions of dollars of cash and in-kind donations to nonprofits focused on technology and education.

“We are committed to investing in and expanding our network to ensure that more residents and businesses in Pennsylvania have a choice in their Internet provider,” Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Freedom Region Dan Bonelli said.

“Our network delivers a world-class experience within and outside the home, and our dedicated team of local experts are excited to help connect Upper Saucon residents to what matters most.”
