UPPER MACUNGIE TWP, Pa. - An Australia-based digital sign company plans to open a Lehigh Valley manufacturing facility that will employ 130 people, according to Gov. Tom Wolf's office.
Easy Signs Inc. makes digitally printed signs and will operate out of Upper Macungie Township. The company will lease a 72,000-square-foot building at 7346 Penn Drive and anticipates opening in May, with a full launch by July.
Hiring will begin as early as this month, the governor's office said.
Easy Signs committed to investing nearly $3 million and filling all the jobs over the next three years. This will be their first U.S. manufacturing facility, according to Wolf.
"We look forward to creating a wide range of jobs for Pennsylvanians in the Lehigh Valley, and developing a facility and culture that allows people to enjoy coming to work each day," said Easy Signs co-founder Andy Fryer in a prepared statement.
The deal to locate in the Lehigh Valley included $300,000 in grants that include workforce development, as well as a $1 million loan through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority, state officials said.
The project was coordinated by the Governor's Action Team.
Don Cunningham, president and CEO of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp., said Easy Signs is a great fit.
"Manufacturing is the second-largest sector of the Lehigh Valley economy, and our region is attractive for international companies seeking a presence in the United States due to our prime Northeast location, talented workforce and excellent transportation infrastructure," he said in a news release.
Easy Signs has been exporting to the U.S. since 2019. It is based in Smeaton Grange, New South Wales, outside Sydney, Australia. The company uses technology to make and digitally print signs via accelerated production lines.
