BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. — Three people were injured, including a firefighter, and a dog was unaccounted for after a multi-alarm blaze at a home in the township early Monday, officials said.
At least 10 agencies assisted after flames broke out at a home on Tiffany Drive about 3:50 a.m., according to a news release.
Flames were spotted by Palmer Township Police on routine patrol near the border of Palmer and Bethlehem Township, the release said.
Nancy Run Fire Company, Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Company and Palmer Municipal Fire Department were dispatched, and a second alarm was struck five minutes later.
It took firefighters an hour to get the fire under control, and the blaze was declared out at 5:13 a.m., the release said.
Two homeowners were injured in the fire and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The release did not identify the injured.
Their dog, a yellow Labrador mix, was unable to be located, it said.
One Nancy Run firefighter also was taken to the hospital for treatment of burn injuries. The 28-year-old, 11-year member of the department was treated for second-degree burns sustained from interior firefighting efforts, and was released.
Other agencies assisting were Hanover Township Vol. Fire Co. (Northampton County), Upper Nazareth Fire Dept., Forks Fire Dept., Vigilance Hose Co. (Nazareth), Catasauqua Fire Dept. (Lehigh County), Hecktown Fire Co. (Lower Nazareth) and Bethlehem Township Vol. Fire Co. EMS.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Bethlehem Township fire marshal.
