The new pay stations in Bethlehem will feature additional payment methods.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Beginning next year, the Bethlehem Parking Authority (BPA) is introducing new pay stations with the goal of installing up to 30 new units a year for the next five years.

  • The Bethlehem Parking Authority is replacing old parking meters with new technology
  • The new stations will offer users more payment methods
  • Users must provide their license plate numbers

The new multi-space pay stations, which have been installed in all the BPA parking lots, will replace the current single-space parking meters throughout Bethlehem, as the BPA said in a news release.

The pay stations, according to BPA, will have the following features:

  • 10” touchscreens
  • Additional payment methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Tap to Pay
  • “Text to Extend,” which enables users to extend their parking session via mobile phones
  • Several language options
“Arguably, the most important feature these pay stations offer is the opportunity for the public to access different languages.”
Steven Fernstrom, Bethlehem Parking Authority executive director

“Arguably, the most important feature these pay stations offer is the opportunity for the public to access different languages,” BPA Executive Director Steven Fernstrom said in a written statement.

He added that the new parking system will be “inclusive,” and, most importantly, easy to use.

“We’re happy to provide the public with parking solutions that offer various payment options and the most convenient industry-leading features,” Fernstrom said.

Users of the new pay stations must provide their license plate numbers during the parking sessions.
ParkMobile, a parking app used to find and look for parking spaces across the country, will also provide a way for visitors to pay for parking.

There will also be updated signage to clearly instruct customers how to pay for parking.

The BPA aims to install 10-30 units per year within the next five years. For more information, visit the BPA website.
