BETHLEHEM, Pa. — It's a chance to bid farewell to summer and welcome the fall season.
Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites announced its upcoming Apple Days event set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21.
It marks year 12 for the family-friendly festival filled with treats, live music, 18th and 19th century trades demonstrations and more at Burnside Plantation, 1461 Schoenersville Road, with “a chance to discover what life was like in Bethlehem in years gone by.”
New for this year, a Family Hour each day from 10-11 a.m. will offer storytelling, pony rides and goats on site and chances to create souvenirs.
'A bounty of apple desserts'
Last year’s festival sold out of desserts. HBMS said it’s hoping for the same success with another assortment of seasonal sweets this time around.
“It wouldn’t be Apple Days without a bounty of apple desserts, and this year’s lineup is filled with treats for any sweet tooth including apple pie, apple crumb cake, apple strudel, apple cider donut holes and fresh cider,” an HBMS news release reads.

Something for everybody
Apple Days also will have:
- Food on site from Couchpotata-doh, Pasta Eve from Philadelphia and a Moravian Love Feast with complimentary refreshments alongside Nazareth Moravian Church;
- Competitions in donut-eating and dessert baking, with prizes to the winners of both
- Live music from Big Squeeze Zydeco and The Masons on Saturday; and Andrea Carlson & the Love Police, Lockman & Purcell and Dr. Doctor on Sunday;
- Local brews, ciders and other seasonal beverages at the Apple Barrel Tavern (Tavern tickets are $25 and include admission to the festival);
- Farmhouse tours at 11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
Apple Days proceeds support Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites — the local nonprofit preserving and operating beloved local landmarks of the days old in the Christmas City, such as 1741 Gemeinhaus and the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem on site.
