BETHLEHEM, Pa. — ArtsQuest has announced a new event that's like something out of science fiction.
Actually, that's precisely what it is: A sci-fi film festival.
- ArtsQuest will present a festival inviting enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a diverse range of science-fiction films
- The event features nine movies such as classics like Invasion of the Body Snatchers or animations such as Fantastic Planet
- Festival passes, available on the SteelStacks website, range from $49-$59
The inaugural Beep Boop, Beep Boop: A Sci-Fi Film Festival will explore nine movies in the genre Aug. 25-27 in Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at ArtsQuest Center at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.
It will include timeless classics as diverse as "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" to animated features such as "Fantastic Planet" and "Ghost in the Shell."
Festival passes are at $59 each, $49 for those under age 25 and seniors, are available on the SteelStacks website.
Highlights of the festival will be:
- 7 p.m. Aug. 26, a screening of "Born in Flames" featuring an exclusive pre-recorded virtual interview with the film’s director, writer and producer, Lizzie Borden. The screening also aligns with the Lehigh Valley LGBTQ+ Film Series and is open free to the public.
- 1 p.m. Aug. 27 , the iconic "2001: A Space Odyssey" will be followed by an engaging Q&A session with Joe Frinzi, acclaimed author of "Kubrick’s Monolith: The Art and Mystery of 2001: A Space Odyssey."
