EMMAUS, Pa. - Autumn is a special time of year – the air is crisper, the days are shorter, the soup is heartier and the beer is pumpkiny-er.

Pumpkin Picking for WLVR’s Flight Club team—Devan Kortan and Christine Dempsey—is non-traditional. Instead of a patch plentiful with brightly colored squash, they make their way to a Beer Heaven, where there is an overwhelming number of pumpkin ales to pick.

Shangy’s houses more than 4,000 varieties of beer.
With so many choices, Kortan and Dempsey narrowed it down to six craft beers to taste. They’ll be testing these brews on WLVR’s Flight Club in November.
The two do not claim to be beer sommeliers or Cicerones, but they are enthusiastic about the local Lehigh Valley Craft Brewery scene.
Visiting Shangy’s to go pumpkin ale picking is a departure from Devan and Christine’s weekly Flight Club radio feature on WLVR. With the seasonal popularity of this flavored brewski, they decided to make a flight of it!
Unlike Linus Van Pelt faithfully sitting in a pumpkin patch, waiting for the arrival of the Great Pumpkin, Christine Dempsey and Devan Kortan will be sitting in the WLVR studios waiting to sip the pumpkin beers they picked from Shangy’s. You’ll have to listen to see if there is one clear Great Pumpkin Ale.
