BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The SouthSide Arts District’s First Friday celebration tonight is getting a taste of metal.
A performance from School of Rock Easton is being held at the Univest Public Media Center — home to Lehigh Valley Public Media and PBS39, 91.3 WLVR and LehighValleyNews.com.
You can watch the show here from 6 to 8 p.m. — or, better yet, stop by and visit at 839 Sesame St. on the SteelStacks campus. It’s free.
First Friday is a monthly community celebration at different spots in South Bethlehem, featuring art, live music, cultural experiences and historical attractions.
Others First Friday venues tonight include:
- Students from Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts sharing literary works like poetry, spoken word and short stories in their “Showcase at the Lodge” at Cafe the Lodge, 427 E. Fourth St. from 6 to 8 p.m.;
- A free Winter Student Art Exhibition featuring works by Charter Arts students in the school’s Corporal Gallery at the school, 321 E. Third St. It’s from 6 to 8 p.m. and features more than 200 student works;
- A reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the SouthSide Arts District headquarters at 324 S. New St., highlighting the work of several artists who have exhibited at the Fox Optical gallery since 1998. It’s called “RetroSpectacular – 28 Years of Vision & the Arts”;
- ArtsQuest First Fridays at the ArtsQuest Center at 101 Founders Way from 6 to 9 p.m.;
- Pennsylvania Youth Theatre presents “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” at 7 p.m. at the Charles A. Brown Ice House, 56 River St. Tickets are $22 to $24;
- Dance Soup featuring student choreographers of Charter Arts at the school at 321 E. Third St. at 7 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults and $8 for students and children;
- Friday Night trivia at Colony Meadery, 211 E. Third St. Starts at 7:15 p.m., hosted by the Lehigh Valley Trivia League;
- Bethlehem Steel Flashlight Tours by the National Museum of Industrial History. At $15 per person ($12.50 for museum members), tours start in the museum lobby at 7:45 p.m.
- Godfrey Daniels at 7 E. Fourth St. hosts its annual all-inclusive holiday concert with the folk-rock duo The Kennedys. The show if from 8 to 10 p.m. and tickets are $30.78 to $35.98.
