Seminal hardcore punk band to play Archer Music Hall

Seminal hardcore punk rock band Circle Jerks will perform at Allentown's Archer Music Hall at 7 p.m. March 31. Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 14.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A seminal punk rock band credited with helping start the hardcore punk subgenre will play Allentown's Archer Music Hall it was announced.

Circle Jerks, whose 1980 album "Group Sex" is considered to be a landmark in hardcore punk, will perform at 7 p.m. March 31.

Gorilla Biscuits and Negative Approach, two other hardcore band from the 1980s, will open the show.

Tickets, at $48 each for general admission standing and $91.45-$138.65 for assigned balcony seats, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14.

Circle Jerks started when singer Keith Morris left Black Flag, which he also helped start, in 1979. In 1980, it released "Group Sex" and it among the bands featured in in the cult documentary film "The Decline of Western Civilization" about the California punk rock scene.

The band subsequently released five more albums of new material and two live albums, and influenced a generation of hardcore bands.

Circle Jerks originally broke up in 1990 but reunited 1994-96 and released its most recent album of new songs, "Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosities."

The band then took another hiatus until 2001, then broke up again before reuniting for good in 2019.

The current lineup includes Morris and founding guitarist Greg Hetson, who also was guitarist for Bad Religion 1984-2013. Joining them will be bassist Vander Schloss, who first joined in 1984, and drummer Joey Castillo, who joined for the most recent re union.
