Stage production of kids TV show will make it a sunny day at State Theatre

That's where we'll meet — and where favorite PBS-TV show "Sesame Street" characters Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and more will be.

The stage show "Sesame Street Live: Elmo and Friends Say Hello" will be performed at 6 p.m. that night.

Tickets, at $49-$59, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, at the State Theatre website or at the box office at 453 Northampton St.

"At 'Elmo and Friends Say Hello,' you can sing and dance with your favorite furry friends while enjoying fun surprises along the way," the theatre said.

"So put on your dancing shoes and make your way to where the air is sweet for this all-new celebration on Sesame Street."

A VIP experience, at $50 per person (in addition to a ticket) will let attendees meet and get photos with characters. Ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult with a VIP ticket.

"Sesame Street" premiered as a preschool program on Public Broadcast System television stations in 1969 and by 2006 had become "the most widely viewed children's television show in the world," broadcasts in more than 120 countries, according to the U.S. Department of State.

The first "Sesame Street Live" tour was in 1980, and since has had more than 30 different shows.
