MACUNGIE, Pa. — An area resort has made “significant investments” in its skiing and snowboarding offerings, as well as its on- and off-slope food offerings, it announced this week.
Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Longswamp Township, Berks County, has installed 10 new fully automated “state-of-the-art” snow guns that adjust automatically to weather conditions, “maximizing snow production when temperatures drop,” the resort said in a release.
“This creates more open terrain earlier in the season and a longer-lasting snowpack for those late-winter turns,” the release said.
“Our team has been hard at work over the summer months, investing in new improvements and customer experiences designed to make the winter getaway even more enjoyable for our guests.”Bear Creek General Manager Erin Visco
It also has added more than 4,500 feet of new snowmaking pipe, “which significantly increases our ability to cover the mountain more quickly and efficiently,” Bear Creek Marketing Director Gary Kline said in the release.
“Guests can look forward to smoother coverage, better trail conditions, and more time on the slopes, no matter what Mother Nature has in store,” Kline said.
The resort made the announcement as it put season passes on sale.
“Our team has been hard at work over the summer months, investing in new improvements and customer experiences designed to make the winter getaway even more enjoyable for our guests,” Bear Creek General Manager Erin Visco said.
“From enhanced snowmaking capabilities to exciting new food and entertainment options, we are ready to welcome skiers, snowboarders, and families to the slopes for another fantastic season.”
New mid-mountain snack shop
The resort also announced the opening of Snack Shack at Kodiak and Black Bear — a “mid-mountain stop for a quick bite.”
“Whether guests need a warm drink, a snack to recharge, or just a short break, this new spot adds convenience and comfort right where guests will need it most,” the release said.
“We’re committed to continuing our warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Bear Creek such a special place for all."Bear Creek General Manager Erin Visco
Also new is the Coffee & Hot Chocolate Stand – a reimagining of the former Polar Bar space where “guests can begin their ski day with a steaming cup of coffee, or warm up after a few runs with a decadent hot chocolate topped with whipped cream,” the release said.
“It’s sure to become a new favorite gathering place for families and friends.”
The popular Waffle Cabin will return offering Belgian waffles drizzled with chocolate or maple syrup, the resort said.
“We’re committed to continuing our warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Bear Creek such a special place for all," Visco said.
"Whether our guest is a first-time skier, a season passholder, or a family looking for a fun winter escape, we’re here to make this visit and many other visits unforgettable."
