BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A band that comically parodies the music and performances of heavy metal and glam music is coming back to the Lehigh Valley.
Steel Panther, which has had five albums top Billboard's Comedy chart, will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, it was announced.
Tickets, at $38.98 for general admission standing and $51.98 for balcony seat, went on sale at noon Friday at the SteelStacks website and at the box office at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.
The show will be part of a tour to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the group's debut album, 2009's "Feel the Steel."
The disc, with songs such as "Death to All but Metal" and "Party All Day," hit No. 1 on the Comedy chart, No. 14 on the Hard Rock chart and broke the Top 100 on Billboard's overall Albums chart.
Steel Panther's show offers over-the-top raunchy and offensive sex-and-drugs rock music comedy from its spandex-clad members.
But its members are accomplished musicians.
Guitarist Satchel (Russ Parrish), for example, actually was lead guitarist for Judas Priest singer Rob Halford’s side project Fight. Vocalist Michael Starr (Ralph Saenz) played in several Hollywood bands.
The group's most successful album, 2014's "All You Can Eat," hit No. 5 on the Hard Rock chart and broke the Top 25 on the overall Albums chart.
In all, four of its albums have hit Top 10 on the Hard Rock chart, with the latest being 2019's "Heavy Metal Rules," which peaked at No. 7.
Its latest disc was "On the Prowl" in 2023.
Steel Panther last played the Lehigh Valley at Wind Creek Event Center, then known as Sands Bethlehem Event Center, in 2015.
It also opened for Judas Priest at Allentown's PPL Center in 2014, and headlined at Allentown's former Crocodile Rock Cafe in 2012.
