BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Welcome to another year of LehighValleyNew.com's Fest in Show, a daily offering of some of the can't-miss acts on the 16 free stages of Bethlehem's Musikfest festival.
This year, more than 400 acts will play those stages during the festival's 11 days.
Read us daily during Musikfest for suggestions of the best music — and more.
Here are our picks for Tuesday, Aug. 5:
Kendal Conrad, 4:30 p.m. Main Street
Country-pop singer who opened for Dan + Shay last year, and for Darius Rucker on Sunday. Conrad is in the middle of a bid to sing the national anthem 100 times all across the country. "Kendal has been putting in the work for a decade now to build her career as a country singer and deserves all the credit for it," ArtsQuest Chief Programming Director Patrick Brogan said.
Gadan, 7:30 p.m. Americaplatz
A five-man band from Italy that combines traditional Irish music and American Appalachian music with two banjo players, mandolin, guitar and fiddle. "Not exactly the musical sounds you'd be expecting from their heritage," Brogan said. "They're just an interesting sound, from an unexpected area of the world." A first-time Musikfest act.
Dan DeChellis Trio, 8 p.m., Jazz Cabaret Stage at Alehouse Cinemas
DeChellis has degrees in classical piano and taught improvisation for 15 years at Moravian College, now Moravian University. A Musikfest veteran, he has released more than 25 albums in the past 30 years. He recently has delved into ambient music and visual art, and this year was honored with an art opening at Nurture Nature Center, combining his paintings and music.
Space Kamp, 9:30 p.m. Plaza Tropical
Lehigh Valley's Space Kamp is a genre-bending duo, blending alternative hip-hop, reggae and psychedelic influences to create a sound they call Rebel Hippies music. Their 2020 album "Electric Lemonade" debuted at No. 15 on the iTunes Reggae chart, and "Butterfly Effect (BE)" in 2022 hit No. 9. They also helped create and curate ArtsQuest's One Earth Reggae Festival.
Romeo Delight: America's Top Van Halen Experience, 9 p.m. Zinzenplatz
Mysterious Ways: The U2 Experience, 9:30 p.m. Stadtplatz
Again, tribute bands are not normally our favorites, but the real Van Halen is defunct, so Philadelphia-based Romeo Delight presenting entire Van Halen albums in concert in original track sequence is intriguing. And Mysterious Ways plays all of U2's eras, from the punk-inspired energy of the "Boy" album to the sonic wave of "The Unforgettable Fire" and late-career "Achtung Baby."
